2019 Party for the Pride Breaks Records
The 2019 Party for the Pride was held at Taylor Brawner Hall on March 9th. For the first time, the event sold out. Even better, the Party earned $31,500 net proceeds for the King Springs Elementary Foundation and resulted in an ~80% profit margin! This means more of your dollars go directly back to our school.
Big thanks go out to our sponsors: Martin Electrical Solutions, The Primrose School of West Smyrna, Publix at Jonquil, Atlanta Professional Landscaping, Schwartz Dentistry, JW Affinity IT, and McCray's Tavern.

2016-2017 Year in Review
Innovation Grants
In January 2017 the Foundation awarded Kings Springs teachers with over $9000 for innovation grants. This program was facilitated by Carol Kirshner. Grade levels and special area teachers wrote proposals to the Foundation for innovative projects for activities that they wanted to implement with students and what they came up with was amazing.

iPads for the Classrooms
In December 2015 the Foundation purchased 76 new iPad Air devices for King Springs. Now that is a Christmas gift! The money that was raised through the Support the Pride campaign made this purchase a reality. This provides each K-5 teacher with an additional two iPads to use in his/her classroom. We can't wait to see the amazing ways students use the iPads to enhance their learning.

Teacher Training Support
The KSE Foundation’s top priority is supporting our teachers and students by helping our teachers continue to grow! Just as learning empowers our students, we know learning exponentially empowers our teachers to better equip our students. We recognize that Cobb County is typically unable to fund course fees, to provide compensation to teachers for their time or travel expenses while attending valuable training courses, or to support integration of knowledge and experience gained through professional development into KSE classrooms. As such, KSEF supports professional development in a variety of ways as needed, but primarily through a training stipend program which began in June 2014. Foundation funds have provided professional development support in the form of grants to more than 20 teachers so far this year. Teachers will also be participating in project-based learning and gifted/accelerated content training this spring.

Part-Time Technology Resource Coordinator
The Foundation is fortunate to have raised enough money to fund an additional teacher for King Springs. Ms. Monica Erwin is KSE's Technology Resource Coordinator! She is responsible for aiding the faculty in the selection, design, production, and implementation of solutions to integrate technology into class lessons. She serves as a resource for the faculty regarding IT issues as well as helping them to expand their teaching methods and gain confidence in using multimedia in their classrooms. Ms. Erwin creates and support electronic resources such as a blog, apps for I-Pads, and technology training. Monica is a veteran teacher with 26 years of experience in the Cobb County School District at the high school and elementary levels. She also has Master’s and Specialist’s degrees in Media with an emphasis in Instructional Technology from the University West Georgia. Check out her blog at http://kingsprings.typepad.com/technology/
Science Olympiad
Elementary Science Olympiad is a team competition event that challenges students in 18 different categories that include scientific knowledge and in-depth hands-on experiences. We have 2 fantastic teachers leading our new KSE Science Olympiad team. On May 16 the KSE Science Olympiad team competed in the state competition. They had 3 top 10 finishes out of the 18 events. This included a 6th place finish and two 9th place finishes. The team also placed 21st overall out of more than 60 teams in the competition (and more than 300 in the state). Congratulations to all participants!
